Your Responsibilities
As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality and supporting your team through complex manual testing efforts. You’ll work closely with developers, PMs, and fellow QAs to gain a deep understanding of our domain and guide quality efforts across multiple backend and frontend microservices. You will be part of our Technology team and will report to the Technology Lead in Manila, Philippines. Moreover, you will:
- Take ownership of testing activities within your scrum team, focusing on end-to-end test coverage and risk-based prioritization.
- Plan, design, and execute manual test cases based on acceptance criteria and system behavior.
- Take initiative in understanding system dependencies and edge cases, especially in complex backend workflows.
- Support and guide other QAs on the team by sharing knowledge, reviewing test ideas, and helping improve testing strategies.
- Identify and communicate QA process gaps across teams and take initiative to improve overall QA efficiency, scalability, and consistency.
- Collaborate with developers and PMs to clarify requirements, identify gaps early, and ensure shared quality ownership.
- Promote good QA practices and contribute to maintaining a structured and scalable test approach.
- Advocate for QA importance, helping stakeholders understand the value and scope of testing.
- Participate in planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews with a critical testing mindset.
- Contribute to test automation efforts when relevant, bringing in your knowledge to improve coverage and efficiency.
You Offer
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in manual testing, preferably in backend-heavy systems.
- Deep understanding of testing strategies and quality assurance in agile environments.
- Strong experience testing APIs (REST, GraphQL) and working with tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar, with working knowledge of databases and SQL querying.
- Confidence working with complex systems, debugging issues, and identifying root causes.
- Ability to understand the bigger picture while keeping an eye on the details.
- Proactive mindset with strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Comfortable guiding medior and junior QAs in daily work.
- Experience with test automation and a proven ability to optimize manual testing processes by driving a shift toward automated approaches.
- Full working proficiency in English.
